Gardens

Carl and our friend Doug rebuilt the fence around the kitchen garden. Amazing, isn’t it?

In the kitchen garden, the spinach didn’t sprout. Nor did the kale, carrots…nada. (Except the volunteer arugula with its nutty flavored flowers and some volunteer spinach.) I note that it’s been dry and we haven’t set up the watering system. Bearing in mind a lesson I learned a few years ago—and forgot and now remember—I need to water the seeds after I plant them.

With the help of our two garden assistants, we planted out myriad seedlings in the vegetable garden this week. Happy are the seedlings who escaped the cats gnawing and chewing!
